Sheltie Lady Honey Muffin

1988-2001

My Best Friend

Muffin was an extremely energetic bundle of fun. She was an AKC registered sheltie. She was not show quality but I did not care. She was perfect. She was my beset friend. She taught me so much about Dog Training. She was my Demo Dog when I first started teaching classes for petsmart in 1997. Her greatest accomplishment tough was her ability to work a crowd of children (as well as adults).

Working with Children

She and I taught seminars in elementary schools about dog care and training. We also taught the children the differendce between pet dogs and service dogs. The kids loved Muffin because of her extremly hyper bouncy personality. She knew all her basic obedience commands and advanced off leash commands. Kids loved to watch her work from voice or hand signals. They loved to see her drop into a down from a dead runon the recall. She would fetch anything the children asked her to fetch, speak on command, dance on her hind legs, spin in cirlces at an exhausting pace, jump over, onto, or through anything. She knew all the agility obstacles and ran so fast I couldn't keep up with her. She would work for any child which tickled them to pieces.

Dog Haters Loved Her, Delta Certification

Everyone who met her fell in love. Even sworn dog haters couldn't resist her never ending attempts to get people to throw her ball for her. She was ball crazy, tug rope insane, very well trained, and extremely devoted to me. Later in life when she was 10 or 11 she passed her Delta Certification and was getting ready to start working with battered women and children. The week before she was to start, she began to display senile dimensia type behaviors that made her unpredictable around other people and children when she would slip into confussion. She spent 2 good years education and blessing children.

My Pet, My Hero, My Love

She retired to live her last years as a spoiled and adored princess. She was a hero to me. I will forever miss her. I can't talk or write about her without feeling such a terrible loss and my eyes always fill with tears. To all of you who mourn for a lost pet hero I send you my love.
